How do I set up a public holiday calendar?

Add public holiday calendars for countries and regions, assign them to users, and manage individual days

Info: TimeTac provides standard templates for public holiday calendars for various countries and federal states (Switzerland: cantons). These include all public holidays for the current and the following year. For religious, political, or personal holidays, you can manually add days off to a calendar.

Add a public holiday calendar for a country

Tip: You can add as many public holiday calendars as you need from all available templates.

  1. Navigate to Company > Public holiday calendar in the side menu.
  2. Click Add calendar in the top right.
  3. Enter a name and click Add days from selected region.
  4. Search for a region in the drop-down menu and click Save.

Assign a public holiday calendar to a user

Tip: You can assign different public holiday calendars to different users if needed.

  1. Navigate to Company > Users in the side menu.
  2. Click the three-dot menu and select Go to profile.
  3. Switch to the Absences tab.
  4. Select the public holiday calendar template and enter the date from which it should apply.
  5. Click Save.

Warning: The assigned public holiday calendar affects the calculation of expected hours and leave entitlement. Assign the public holiday calendar before configuring the leave entitlement.

Create a custom public holiday calendar

  1. Navigate to Company > Public holiday calendar in the side menu.
  2. Click Add calendar.
  3. Enter a name.
  4. Decide whether to add public holidays from a region. If yes, select the desired region from the drop-down menu.
  5. Click Save.

The new calendar appears in the overview. To add custom holidays, follow the instructions under Manage individual days.

Manage individual days

Add a day

  1. Navigate to Company > Public holiday calendar in the side menu.
  2. Select the desired public holiday calendar.
  3. Click Add day.
  4. Enter the name of the holiday, select a date, and define the duration.
  5. Click Save.

Repeat these steps to add more days to the calendar.

Tip: Review the public holiday calendar annually and update the dates, as some public holidays (for example Easter Monday) change every year.

Edit or delete days

  1. Click the arrow icon on the desired public holiday calendar to view all days.
  2. Select the day you want to edit or delete.
  3. Click the three-dot menu and select Edit or Delete.
