This article is for: Standard user, Manager, Admin, Account owner

Contents

What types of notifications are there?

There are notifications for time requests and absence requests. They are divided into two types:

  • Informative notifications: Inform about the status of a request (accepted, rejected, deleted).
  • Interactive notifications: Require an action, such as approving or rejecting a request.

Who receives which notifications?

Users with the Standard user role

A time or absence request is automatically created whenever a time entry is changed or an absence is recorded. After processing, these users receive a notification in the software and additionally by email.

The following status notifications are possible:

  • Accepted
  • Rejected
  • Deleted

These notifications are informative and do not require any further action.

Admin and Manager

Users with the Admin or Manager roles receive an interactive notification for new time or absence requests, allowing them to approve or reject the request directly.

Info: Users with the Admin or Manager roles do not create time or absence requests themselves. They only receive notifications about other users' requests for approval.

Where do I find notifications?

Notifications are available on multiple touchpoints: in the web app, on mobile, and by email.

View notifications in TimeTac

  1. When new requests arrive, a red dot or number appears at the top right next to the bell icon.
  2. Click the bell icon to open the notification centre.
  3. Filter the notifications by status:
    • All – all notifications
    • New – unread notifications
    • Processed – notifications you have already acted on
    • Requests – only request-related notifications

Each notification has one of three states:

  • New: The notification has not been seen yet.
  • Seen: You have viewed the notification but not taken action.
  • Processed: You have acted on the notification (e.g. approved or rejected a request).

Deep-linking to the calendar

Clicking a notification for an absence or time request takes you directly to the relevant day in the calendar of the user who made the request.

Features for Manager and Admin roles

With the Manager or Admin role, you can approve or reject requests directly in the notification without leaving the notification centre.

Email notifications

Users also receive email notifications when their requests are approved or rejected. Email templates include direct links to the relevant request in TimeTac.

Tip: All requests and their current status are also available in the Requests menu.
