How do I set core working hours?

Define core working hours in a work schedule and view warnings in the calendar

This article is for: Admin, Account owner

Core working hours are defined time periods during which users must be present. They are typically agreed upon as part of flexitime models to ensure that everyone is available during certain hours. The duration of core working hours is shorter than the regular daily working time.

Add core working hours to a work schedule

Info: Core working hours can only be set in a work schedule with expected hours.

  1. Navigate to Company > Work Schedules in the side menu.
  2. Select an existing work schedule with expected hours or create a new one.
  3. Open the Core hours tab.
  4. Select the working day and set the time from when to when the user must be present.
  5. Click Save.

Tip: If the work start is after the core time begins, or the work end is before the core time ends, a warning is displayed in the calendar and the timesheet report. Breaks during core time do not trigger a warning.

Display in the timesheet report

Core working hours are not shown as a separate column in the timesheet report. A core time breach is visible in the Status column.

Display in the calendar

  • The defined core working hours are shown as a grey bar in the day view.
  • A core time breach is indicated by a warning icon on the affected day.
  • Hover over the warning icon to see the warning message: Core hours were not met.

You now know how to add core working hours to a work schedule in TimeTac and where breaches are displayed in the calendar and Timesheet Report.
